What do you get if you cross an enormous text wall/confessional space, Musical Statues, a killer Superhero compere, a Marathon theme, and hundreds of young people in wickedly out-there 80's sports gear grooving to the choicest Money tunes blasting out of the PA as the Covent Garden West Piazza crowds went wild? The Kikass Money Marathon Stunt (On Your Marks, Shed Debt, Go!), that's what!

Covent Garden Piazza at dusk on Saturday April 21st saw money take on a fresh, outrageous and deeply funky new twist as never before. We totally rocked the house, with over 250 slinkily 80's-kitted young things grooving away, displaying and confessing their extravagances on their running vests, and whipped into another dimension of motivation by the proclamations of visiting superhero Captain Statistic.

The stunt came complete with a massive text wall which projected confessional/inspirational money-related text messages for all the world to see, and stunt participants and onlookers were able to anonymously submit the amount they owe or have wasted, so everyone could see everyone else's follies and foibles in brightly lit text and spot the intermittent positive coaching messages to telling us what to do about it! Each time a 'positive' money message beamed up, Captain Statistic announced: "On your marks, shed debt, GO!!" as the cue to 'dance our debts off'. Then when people's confessions and negative issues around debt came up on the text wall we all stood still "as if paralysed by debt" – truly the strangest version of Musical Statues ever…

The Stunt had an obviously sporty theme, both to tie in with the next day's London Marathon, and to encourage the idea of 'getting your finances in shape', with everyone involved given running vests to customise with their biggest financial vice instead of the usual Marathon number…

The crowd, indeed, went wild. The collective jaws of Covent Garden's punters and tourists dropped and stayed that way. One girl was so overcome with motivation she actually cut up her credit card live on stage! Checking out the dancing crowd and the neon texts and the general air of happiness in the air at one point reminded us of our best times at clubs and festivals combined. Particular big ups go to the visiting crowd of fairies, the Spanish student contingent, everyone on the project team and to Tristram who looked utterly fabulous in his green lycra Superhero suit and did us proud. Everyone gave themselves up to the moment completely, fessed up, dressed up, and texted in financial sins as varied as 'Haribo sweets', 'Fairy costumes,' 'Women', and 'Booze, Shoes and Views' (thanks Nat!).

The after party at Shoreditch's El Paso was suitably hedonistic and everyone danced and drank their socks off releasing the tension of the past few weeks' amazing hard work. We hope you loved it. We did. Bring on the next one!

The Background
At Kikass, we love a good stunt (think Trigger Happy/Banksy/Flashmob – not 007, though we love that stuff too!) .Over the years we've  dressed up as pantomime cows, badass fairies, Greek gods and whip-wielding Condominatrixes and our office is stuffed with gorilla suits and

We love this stuff too much to keep it to ourselves and not do it again, even bigger, badder and better. And since debt and money are such a dry and taboo subject our campaign needs as outrageous a twist as possible. That's why, on April 21st, we planned to unleash a jaw-droppingly foxy mother of all stunts on an unsuspecting London and set the world alight with wicked solutions to the money dramas which dog so many young people. Our 100-strong Stunt Team were all trained at Stunt Academy by the creative and media worlds' top experts. The whole thing lasted about 40 minutes and put across the message that taking on your money and getting your finances fit can be REAL and outrageous fun!
